Hands Up For Downs

Hands Up for Downs is a registered charity affiliated to the Down’s Syndrome Association. Born in May 2014 we are a parent-run charity supporting children with Down’s Syndrome and their families in the Swansea Bay Area.  

We are well into the second year of our Speech and Language Therapy grant funded by the National Lottery Community Fund Wales. The progress our children are making with the one-to-one weekly sessions is marked. Without funding like this, our children wouldn’t have the support to develop their ways of communication, express themselves and interact with others. An enormous thank you to all the National Lottery players and The National Lottery Community Fund Wales for making such a big difference to our children’s lives.

​A huge, huge thank you to Swansea Council for awarding us the Summer of Fun grant enabling our children to access a range of activities this Summer including Forest School, Introduction to Ponies and a led walk, Climbing and Rubba-Bubba sensory play sessions for our younger members. Our children will be able to explore the outdoors, learn new skills, develop their fine and gross motor skills and meet up with each other to develop their social skills whilst having lots of fun. Summer 2022 is certainly going to be a Summer of Fun!
